KAHRA Team

KAHRA Team

The KAHRA team includes Aboriginal people from the Kimberley and non-Indigenous people who have lived in the Kimberley for many years. We have a strong commitment to ethical and appropriate practices that maintain cultural safety.

The KAHRA team’s activities include:

  • Communicating widely about how Aboriginal health research needs to be done and how it can be useful;
  • Advocating for what is most important to Aboriginal people in the Kimberley regarding research;
  •  Providing advice and support to Aboriginal organisations, communities and health services when they are approached about research or have their own research ideas;
  • Assisting with research projects in the Kimberley on a fee-for-service basis;
  • Providing a local option for evaluations of programs and services in the Kimberley;
  • Keeping track of the research that is being done in the Kimberley, and help make sure the right people get the findings;
  • Helping to uphold high research standards;
  • Building up the Aboriginal health research workforce;
  • Building and maintaining a health data platform and championing Indigenous data sovereignty; and
  • Coordinating collaboration opportunities between different organisations involved in research in the Kimberley.
